fun fact: if you ever want to make a writer’s day, one surefire way to get the job done is to make art inspired by their fiction. I have had the great honour of artist Michael Bukowski bringing to life the Shades from my novella “Naming the Bones”. I’m particularly thrilled by this as his vision is uncannily accurate: the face and limbs are especially spot on. Michael illustrates all kinds of ghouls and monsters – if that’s your jam I strongly suggest checking out his blog.
(This has happened to me once before, when Iain Maynard created a piece of art for my short story “When Charlie Sleeps” and I’m still buzzing over that many years later. I’ve also recently discovered that horror legend Johnny Mains has been saying very nice things about Charlie, which is a well-timed boost for the flagging ego.)
Congratulations! It looks like your monster-building and descriptions are spot-on…a difficult thing to do — moving monster from head to page and back again! Excellent!
Thank you! It’s such a treat when an artist captures your imagination so well
